Financial Manager, Risk Manager/Analyst
Finance and Commercial Manager – Mears Group PLC
Annual salary: up to £70,000.00 (plus £4,500 Car Allowance and additional company benefits).
Location:
South East – based in Essex supporting branches in Essex and London.
Employment Type:
Permanent, Full‑time, Hybrid (3‑4 days on site, 1‑2 days working from home).
- Provide comprehensive commercial and financial support to branch leadership teams, ensuring they understand the commercial model and own financial performance and profitability of the contract.
- Deliver high‑quality commercial and financial management information, including monthly performance reviews, rolling forecasts, annual budgets and insightful commentary on risks and opportunities.
- Engage in commercial contract management activities such as repricing, tendering opportunities and contract optimisation.
- Act as a trusted advisor to non‑financial teams, communicating complex financial data clearly and proactively, and influencing decisions at all levels.
- Maintain a self‑managed, hands‑on approach with strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Experience with low‑value/high‑volume job data analysis.
- Demonstrable experience in financial reporting preparation and presentation.
- Proven ability to engage and develop collaborative relationships with operational teams.
- Strong Excel skills and experience interpreting commercial contracts.
- Capacity to work under pressure and manage competing priorities flexibly.
- Excellent communication skills across diverse backgrounds, including non‑financial stakeholders.
- Proactive, initiative‑driven with strong self‑management.
- Experience in social housing and housing maintenance.
- Commercial understanding of social housing, including schedules of rates, subcontractor pricing and final accounts.
