You will be joining a contractor that is known for delivering complex, high‑value projects within sectors such as residential, care, later living, commercial and mixed‑use developments. Their flexible, trust‑based working model allows you to work from home 2–3 days per week, while still being fully engaged with national project delivery.
The OpportunityThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial function across a range of projects. You’ll play a key strategic role, supporting cost planning, procurement, subcontractor management and commercial reporting, while ensuring projects are delivered profitably and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities- Lead commercial management across multiple construction projects from pre‑construction through to final account.
- Develop detailed cost plans, budgets and forecasts aligned with project objectives.
- Manage procurement processes, tender evaluations and supply chain engagement.
- Administer contracts, including variations, interim valuations and payment schedules.
- Provide clear commercial insight, risk management and strategic advice to project teams.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Mentor and support junior commercial team members, promoting best practice.
- Prepare accurate commercial reports and contribute to business‑wide planning and forecasting.
- Attend site meetings nationally as required (with hybrid working flexibility).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within UK main contracting.
- Strong competency in cost control, procurement, contractual administration and risk management.
- Experience with in design & build or complex multi‑disciplinary construction projects is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
- Confident working autonomously within a hybrid model, balancing home and site commitments.
- Professional membership (e.g., MRICS) is beneficial but not essential.
- A proactive, solution‑focused mindset with a strong commercial eye.
