Senior Service Designer - IR35

Overview

Senior Service Designer - Inside IR35 Contract. We are looking to recruit a Senior Service Designer on a contract basis who can work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, and deliver excellent results across GDS projects for Version 1’s customers in the public sector.

You will be experienced in working with users and stakeholders to determine the best way to design products and services, considering both the end-to-end journey and individual design elements. Your portfolio will demonstrate your ability to understand users and design to meet their needs, work to relevant design standards and communicate your design decisions effectively.

You will play a key role in designing the end-to-end journey of service. This helps a user complete their goal and customer to deliver their policy intent. In this role, your work may involve the creation of, or change to transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of the customer's internal infrastructure.

You will need to be eligible for SC clearance to be considered for this role.

• Work in a multidisciplinary team to deliver results across GDS projects for Version 1’s public sector customers.
• Design the end-to-end journey of services, including transactions, products and content across digital and offline channels.
• Determine the best design approaches by understanding users and stakeholders, and communicate design decisions effectively.

• Design thinking and evidence-based design: strong understanding of design thinking and applying frameworks as appropriate to the project.
• Evidence-based design: test assumptions to ensure your designs are the simplest feasible solution for users.
• Concepts and prototyping: ability to create and iterate prototypes with appropriate fidelity and tools; evaluate concepts and explain them to stakeholders.
• Knowledge of design standards: understand and demonstrate compliance with relevant design standards, including public sector standards in the UK and GDS assessment processes.
• Accessible/Inclusion design: apply accessibility principles and evaluate against appropriate accessibility standards.
• Focus on users and their needs: undertake basic user research, collaborate with user researchers, design to meet diverse user needs, and explain design decisions and constraints.
• Consultancy skills: communicate design process and decisions to internal colleagues and customers; manage stakeholders and escalate issues when needed.
• Agile working in multidisciplinary teams: align design work with agile workflows and work iteratively in a collaborative, cross-functional team.
