The Company

A well-established and highly respected construction contractor based in the Midlands is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its growing team. With over 40 years’ experience delivering high-quality construction projects, the business is known for its hands-on approach, technical expertise, and long-standing client relationships.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with industrial, logistics, or steel-frame project experience to play a key role in the delivery of technically robust and efficiently coordinated schemes.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring that designs are fully coordinated, buildable, and aligned with programme and commercial requirements. Working closely with internal teams, consultants, and subcontractors, you will help drive quality and efficiency across projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and coordinate the design process across industrial and steel-frame projects

* Lead design team meetings and manage consultant appointments

* Review and manage design information to ensure compliance with programme, budget, and technical requirements

* Identify and manage design risks, clashes, and buildability issues

* Coordinate structural steel, envelope, and associated design packages
Support pre-construction activities including tenders and design development

* Liaise closely with project, commercial, and site teams

Key Requirements

* Proven experience as a Design Manager or Design Coordinator within a main contractor environment or Architectural background

* Strong background in industrial, logistics, or steel-frame construction

* Good technical understanding of structural steel, cladding, and building services coordination

* Ability to manage multiple design packages and stakeholders

* Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
