PAD is hiring a technical architect/architectural technician to join its team in Surrey, UK and remotely.

An award-winning boutique architecture practice is seeking a highly skilled and detail-focused technical architect/architectural technician to support the delivery of projects post-planning.

This full-time role is primarily focused on the technical documentation and coordination stages of projects, enabling the Director to concentrate on business development, concept design, and securing planning consents.

• production of high-quality detail and construction drawing packages (RIBA Stages 4–5), including interiors packages such as bespoke joinery, kitchens and bathrooms
• close liaison with all external consultants, suppliers and fabricators
• maintenance of exceptionally high standards of technical documentation and coordination
• attendance at weekly site meetings and ability to clearly communicate with contractors and resolve technical queries throughout construction
• updating and producing additional technical information as required throughout the construction process
• potential to take on contract administration responsibilities over time (desirable but not essential)

• essential to demonstrate a strong portfolio of completed private residential projects where you have led the technical documentation and coordinated delivery on site
• proven experience in extension and refurbishment projects, as well as new-build residential schemes
• strong knowledge of UK planning, party wall and building control legislation
• excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

We are transitioning from Vectorworks (2D) to Archi

CAD. Therefore Archi

CAD proficiency is essential, and Vectorworks is desirable. Beyond this, the practice also uses Sketchup and Adobe Suite.

Recently relocated to Oxted in East Surrey. Projects are a mixture of London and Surrey, therefore the ideal candidate will be Surrey-based and willing to travel as required.

The practice currently operates primarily on a remote basis. Given the seniority and responsibility of this role, occasional time at the Director’s home office in Oxted, Surrey will be required, however the position will largely remain flexible and distance-based.
