Day-to-Day Responsibilities of a Radiologist

As a radiologist, you will carry out different duties on a daily basis. As part of your responsibilities, you could be:

  • Analysing images to diagnose, treat and manage different medical conditions and diseases
  • Offering specialist expertise and guidance to other doctors and staff from a range of medical specialties
  • Examining patients using a holistic approach looking at their medical history
  • Teaching junior staff about auditing and research
  • Selecting and using appropriate radiology techniques for patient diagnosis
Salary and Entry Requirements

To become a radiologist, you must have a degree in medicine to get onto a necessary foundation training course. This will take two years to complete and will give you the option to work in different placements to get relevant experience. Once you have completed this, you will then need to do specialty training in radiology, and this usually takes five years to finish.
