SUMMARY Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine is searching for a Residency Advisor to join their team. The staff in the Center for Student Success (CSS) provide academic advising, career and residency advising, and tutoring services for its students at Rowan-Virtua SOM. Within the career advising realm, CSS staff assist students in preparing a professional CV/resume and a personal statement essay for their applications to residency programs.

The staff member in this position will assist students by reviewing these documents and providing suggestions for improvement.

* This is a per diem position with peak times occurring in February-June and August-September. The selected candidate must be able to work 10-19 hours a week during peak times. *

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Meet with third- and fourth-year medical students to provide guidance in residency planning and assist with the preparation of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE).

• Review students’ CVs/resumes for the medical residency application process and provide suggestions for revision.
• Review students’ personal statement essays for the medical residency application process and provide suggestions for revision.
• Track CV and personal statement submissions and revisions.
• Maintain a general understanding of the current residency application process.
• Regularly collaborate with staff members in the Center for Student Success and other SOM departments.
• This is a primarily remote position with the exception of attending on-campus meetings and trainings on CV writing and Personal Statement writing (typically 2-3 sessions per year) and reviewing students' personal statement essays during on-campus review sessions (typically 1-2…
