What you’ll getAt Innovia you won’t join an isolated engineering department; instead you’ll represent your field by joining collaborative project teams composed of experts in other disciplines – from veterinary medicine to theoretical physics, plant science, industrial design, chemical biology, business strategy, psychology, and more.
You’ll begin by leveraging your skills and knowledge in product development and design for manufacture and prototyping to help us expand our capacity to undertake front‑end product development activities, and to bring crucial pragmatism to early‑stage innovation projects.
You’ll solve complex technical problems within industries from food and drink to energy, cosmetics, manufacturing, consumer goods, health or medicines.
Key Responsibilities- Bring your technical skills and creativity to innovation challenges
- Collaborate closely with colleagues from different fields to solve broad and complex problems
- Conduct desk‑based research (e.g., literature reviews) and primary research (qualitative and quantitative)
- Create new ideas, insights, and models, and transfer this thinking between different applications and industries
- Challenge conventional thinking and industry‑specific assumptions
- Help structure and create presentations for colleagues and clients
- Hold an engineering Master’s degree with a mechanical, manufacturing, or design engineering focus
- Good understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles (statics, dynamics, materials, thermofluid mechanics, engineering mathematics) and ability to apply them to unfamiliar problems
- Proficient in Python
- Comfortable working in a dynamic commercial and client‑focused environment
- Strong interest in collaborative teamwork and good communication skills
- Comfortable giving considered opinion on complex questions and participating in lively discussions
- Excellent time‑keeping and task‑management skills, to be able to take responsibility for your own work and time
- Interest in applying creativity across a wide range of industries, and ability to quickly learn about new areas
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative working and learning environment
Office attendance: During the 6‑month probation period we expect new joiners to work from our office, and after successful completion of probation we offer hybrid working on Mondays and Fridays.
Remote working: Unfortunately, this role is not suitable for applicants who wish to work 100% remotely.
Hours: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Role type: Permanent
Tech: We use Mac Books for work. The laptop will be provided on your first day.
