WSP UK & Ireland is looking for a Protection & Control Engineer to join our UK Energy business. The role focuses on delivering power transmission infrastructure to help the UK achieve Net Zero.

• Design protection and control systems for electrical power transmission and distribution networks.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and ETAP.
• Perform technical calculations and analysis to ensure reliability and performance.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments for design purposes.
• Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and construction teams.
• Review and approve design modifications and provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
• Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in protection and control technology.

• Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience designing protection and control schemes.
• Knowledge of electrical networks and engineering standards.
• Experience interpreting technical documentation.
• Experience with main suppliers’ substation control equipment (ABB, Hitachi, Siemens, GE).
• Experience with IEC 61850, IEC 60870.
• Preferable:
  Chartered Engineer status.
• Preferable:
  National Grid BP141 authorisation.
