Protection & Control Engineer (Energy)
WSP UK & Ireland is looking for a Protection & Control Engineer to join our UK Energy business. The role focuses on delivering power transmission infrastructure to help the UK achieve Net Zero.

Contribute to an inclusive environment. - Design protection and control systems for electrical power transmission and distribution networks.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and ETAP.
- Perform technical calculations and analysis to ensure reliability and performance.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments for design purposes.
- Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and construction teams.
- Review and approve design modifications and provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
- Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in protection and control technology.
- Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience designing protection and control schemes.
- Knowledge of electrical networks and engineering standards.
- Experience interpreting technical documentation.
- Experience with main suppliers’ substation control equipment (ABB, Hitachi, Siemens, GE).
- Experience with IEC 61850, IEC 60870.
- Preferable:
Chartered Engineer status. - Preferable:
National Grid BP141 authorisation.
