By spending your year in industry with us, you will:

Join us for a year-long placement from the end of June 2026 to the end of July 2027

As an Industrial Placement in Control Systems:
As part of the Controls Systems Applied Performance team you will be involved in all aspects of the on-car control system, gathering an understanding of the control systems, the mechanical systems they govern and the race driver’s interaction with those systems. You will immerse yourself in remote operational Control Systems Support of our race cars during events, providing real-time monitoring and post session analysis.
You will create detailed pre and post event reports relating to the various performance controls systems including Race Starts, Driveability and Powertrain operation.
You will also be involved in:
Assisting with the development and release cycle of on-car embedded control system code using Matlab and Simulink
On-car systems calibration and data analysis using Matlab and data viewer analysis platforms
Development of the physical and virtual control Factory testing environments
Providing support for new and existing powertrain systems / components during Factory dyno testing
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about reaching their full potential and are excited about constantly learning.
Flexibility in hours, enthusiasm to support F1 race weekend work is required, along with a ‘can do’, ‘team-playing’ attitude and the ability to work to strict deadlines under minimal supervision.
Successful candidates will:
Be currently studying a relevant engineering discipline with some specialisation in control systems and we are also interested in those coming from adjacent degrees such as physics, maths or machine learning
Have a strong background in an engineering discipline with excellent skills in Mathematics and Physics
Have at least one year remaining on your current course or be enrolled on your next course
* from the point at which you start your placement with us (Please note that if you will be enrolled on a Masters or PhD course you will need to be able to evidence enrolment to confirm eligibility)Take full ownership of their work, driving projects forward with initiative and independence
Be adaptable, have a proactive mindset, a collaborative approach and thrive in a team environment

Experience of embedded control system design
A passion for motor sport
