Civil/Structural Senior Engineer
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Leatherhead, Bristol, Burton or Glasgow
Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid – time split between office and working from home
The Asset Integrity - Built Environment Group at Frazer‑Nash is seeking motivated Civil/Structural Consultants for a range of experience levels. You will work across highly regulated, safety‑critical industries, tackling UK‑sized infrastructure programmes. We value technical capability, curiosity, and a drive to solve challenging projects.
About The TeamThe Built Environment team ensures the safety of structures and assets facing extreme hazards. We develop load conditions, structural responses, design solutions, testing programmes and assurance against hazards such as seismic, fire, blast and impact. Projects are unique, often requiring bespoke solutions and collaborative problem‑solving across mechanical, electrical and other disciplines.
What You’ll Do- Nuclear energy (new build, operational fleet and decommissioning)
- Nuclear defence (infrastructure design, substantiation and assurance)
- Renewables (onshore solar, offshore wind)
- Process industries (chemical, hydrogen production)
- Transport (rail, marine)
- Structural verification & code assessments (Eurocode, ASCE, AISC)
- Hazard assessment and validation studies (seismic, blast, fire performance)
- Concept design & feasibility analysis
- Civil/mechanical/electrical interface definition and integration
- Beyond‑code assessments and safety case development
- Groundworks and geotechnical assessment
- Decommissioning and enabling works support
- Structural inspections and regulatory compliance
- Lifecycle extension studies and degradation mechanism analysis
- Lead and shape projects, managing from scoping to delivery
- Engage directly with clients to define needs and opportunities, cultivating long‑term relationships
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability development
- Drive capability growth in your specialism and own the development of opportunities and work streams
- Chartered or higher with ICE/IStruct
E or related discipline - Experience on technically challenging, safety‑critical infrastructure projects
- Client‑facing consultancy experience with a relevant professional network
- Collaborative growth mindset, willing to mentor and cross‑discipline work
- Beneficial technical experience in:
- Code-based assessment (Eurocode, ASCE, AISC)
- Structural tools (STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, Robot)
- Seismic or dynamic analysis
- Impact/blast/fire modelling and substantiation
- Hazard analysis & requirements capture
- Safety case documentation (authoring or approval)
- Geotechnical design or site assessments
- Inspection regimes & CDM compliance
- NEC/RIBA contracts and drafting relevant documentation
- On‑site inspections and surveys
Candidates must undergo pre‑employment screening and satisfy UK National Security Vetting clearance criteria.
