Shermco Canada is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Engineer (P.Eng.).
ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEMS ENGINEER (P.Eng.) - remote work may be considered Working under the supervision of the Engineering Manager in Saskatchewan, the Electrical Power Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components for our clients. The potential candidate will report to our Saskatoon or Regina office, remote work is considered. Applicants who meet a subset of the mentioned job responsibilities will be considered.
Job Responsibilities:Provide leadership for the growth and development of junior Engineering staffManage, plan, and execute various electrical projects across a wide range of clients and industriesPerform electrical analysis and design in both the industrial and utility sectorsProtective relaying design and integration (SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)Industrial/Utility substation automation (SEL RTAC, RTU, HMI, Communications, etc.)Conduct electrical studies including short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, load flow, grounding, and harmonic studiesCreation/modification/review/approval of electrical drawing packages: single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and general arrangements.Electrical distribution system design and modifications: MCC’s, switchgear, breakers, fuses, switches, transformers, capacitor banks, current transformers, potential transformers, protective relays and controls.Troubleshoot problems and develop practical solutions to correct deficiencies in electrical systemsOpportunity to support field services division for maintenance and commissioning activities on customer sites.Onsite engineering inspections and data collectionEngineering sales including preparation of engineering estimates and proposalsQualifications:A four-year Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institutionA Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation from a Canadian P. Eng. licensing body5+ years of power systems engineering experience with both design and field familiarityKnowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office softwareExperience with electrical engineering software such as Easy Power, SKM and ETAP considered an asset.Understanding of microprocessor-based relays and their capabilities considered an assetMust be able to read, write, and speak English fluentlyA valid driver's license is required as some travel is necessary and fieldwork will be a requirement of this positionOther Requirements:Excellent organization, time management and negotiation skillsStrong leadership capabilitiesExceptional technical, analytical and numerical skillsTeam player who will be committed to success of the team and organizationStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCommitment to customer satisfaction
