HV Commissioning Engineer (National Grid)
12-month Contract
Mostly home-based
Outside IR35
You’ll play a key role in commissioning protection and control systems on HV substations.
Responsibilities include :- Planning and delivering site acceptance testing and commissioning in line with SR141 procedures
- Functional and performance testing of protection systems, control panels and secondary equipment
- Witnessing FAT and ensuring all activities follow approved standards and methods
- Managing commissioning documentation, drawings, reports and handover records
- Creating and reviewing test plans, method statements and commissioning switching programmes
- Deploying and verifying configuration files for SCADA BCUs, RTUs, protection relays and network devices
- Managing site equipment, spares, LOTO procedures and safety documentation
- Troubleshooting technical issues during commissioning and energisation
- Coordinating with project managers, site teams and stakeholders
- Promoting strong HSE culture on site
- Electrical engineering qualification or strong relevant experience
- Current or previous National Grid SR141 / BP141 / TP141 authorisation (essential)
- Extensive HV substation commissioning experience
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, protection relays, control schemes and industry standards
