Director​/VP of Engineering

The Director / VP of Engineering will lead and optimize cross-functional engineering teams, driving technical excellence, innovation, and operational efficiency across product development. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions. You will work closely with Product, Design, and other departments to align engineering initiatives with business goals, while mentoring managers and key contributors.

• Design, implement, and maintain efficient engineering team structures to meet organizational objectives
• Recruit, onboard, and train engineering staff, fostering professional growth and development
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of engineering efforts with business goals
• Drive process improvements, best practices, and high standards across development, quality assurance, and operations
• Provide technical guidance on software architecture, technology stack, and prioritization of technical debt
• Mentor engineering managers and key contributors, conducting performance reviews and implementing career growth plans
• Oversee budget allocation for engineering resources, software, and hardware
• Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation across distributed teams

• 8+ years of experience in a product company with cross-departmental collaboration
• 3+ years as Director of Engineering, Senior Engineering Manager, or Head of Engineering
• 3+ years as a Senior Software Engineer with full-stack development experience
• 2+ years managing managers and leading high-performing teams
• Experience with Agile, Dev Ops, and software development lifecycle (SWDL)
• Proven ability to build scalable, secure, and highly available backend systems
• Experience implementing performance metrics (DORA, KPI, OKR)
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead remote and distributed teams across time zones
• Technical expertise in system design, backend, frontend, and databases
