Operations Manager
We are thrilled to announce a career opportunity for a HSQE Lead across our Scottish projects, maintaining and improving the standard of safe and sustainable delivery. You'll provide expert advice to managers and site teams, plan and carry out inspections and audits, investigate incidents and close calls, drive KPI performance and deliver regionals behavioural safety talks.
Taziker is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering contractor specialising in undertaking key maintenance, refurbishment and replacement works to critical UK infrastructure. Employing nearly 400 people, we operate across the UK supported by a Support Services office in Lancashire.
This role will cover East Kilbride and the Scotland Region. This is a full-time hybrid role, with the option to work from home 2 days per week. Working 40 hours per week Mon - Fri, which may vary and include evenings/weekends due to the needs of the business. Regional travel will be required to sites and offices across Scotland when required.
Attractive package: £55,000 - £57,500 annual salary, company car, mobile phone, laptop and company pension scheme.
Responsibilities Include:Provide Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality advice and support to the management team in regional depots.
Assist and undertake all levels of performance monitoring including:
- Site Inspections, production of Audit Reports and follow-up of action planning.
- Accident, Incident, Close Call and Non-Conformance investigations and report writing.
Manage and report on regional HSQE KPI’s generated from performance monitoring.
Promote and assist with Close Call and positive performance reporting.
Produce, Record and Undertake training sessions on site including:
- Toolbox Talks
- Safety Briefings
- Campaign Presentations
- Policy and Procedural changes
Engage with employees on HSQE matters and provide feedback reports on issues raised.
Promote and deliver key aspects associated with the behavioural safety initiatives and attend training events where required.
Assist in the development, management, and maintenance of HSQE management systems including:
- Policy formation
- Procedural creation and implementation
- Creation of approved standard forms and document
Provide support and assistance in ensuring safe systems of work are completed for all tasks undertaken by the company including:
- Plan of work (Work Package Plans and Task briefings for Network Rail)
- Method Statements
- Risk Assessments (Safety and Environmental)
- COSHH Assessments
Attend project, framework and company HSQE meetings with management teams and clients.
Liaise with individual site managers to discuss KPI performance and provide support to ensure effective improvements.
Ensure own self-knowledge is maintained and identify opportunities for training and improvement.
Ensure compliance is being met with all company policies and that appropriate procedures are developed and implemented to achieve their intent.
Ensure all documents and records produced are kept secure and are reviewed to maintain validity. Identify and agree SMART opportunities for company improvement, create action plans for achievement and monitor progress.
Attend regional accreditation assessments ensuring all local evidence is available to fulfil assessment body criteria.
Additional duties and responsibilities may be required to fulfil company requirements or following changes in legislation or policy.
Qualifications and Certificates:Graduated in a relevant degree qualification or you have more than 3 years relevant work experience in a similar role.
Possess NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety (essential)
CISRS Scaffold Inspection (desirable)
Full UK Driving License (essential)
Knowledge andExperience:
Able to carry out risk assessments.
Knowledge of PPE and its use
Circa 3 years H & S experience in an advisory role preferred.
Construction or Rail background desirable.
Awareness of current Health and Safety legislation.
Experience of building and maintaining good working relationships with people of all levels.
NEBOSH Construction (or equivalent experience) and strong communication skills essential.
