Position: Human Factors Consultant (All Levels)

Human Factors Consultant (All Levels)

WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks an experienced Human Factors Consultant to support people‑centred design across rail projects including HS2, Network Rail, Crossrail and Transport for London.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake usability evaluations of equipment, layout and HMIs to demonstrate systems support operators in efficient task performance.
  • Conduct Project Ergonomics Surveys: observe railway signalling tasks, level crossing control, measure workload, assess impacts, perform Training Needs Analysis and analyse data for design and client presentation.
  • Produce Concept of Operations to support new/modification of station depot design, conduct Access & Maintenance assessments, room layout and work‑station design, including Control room design.
  • Work with project teams to assess Accessibility and Design for Inclusion.
  • Elicit Ergonomics requirements and work with teams to deliver user needs.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Experience applying ergonomics techniques and processes in the rail industry.
  • Knowledge of railway infrastructure and operational roles.
  • Previous Human Factors experience.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (preferably working towards Chartership).
  • Experience managing or growing a team.
