About the roleWorking on a large new energy hub at Netherton near Peterhead, this role requires an experienced Environment and Sustainability professional with good all-round environment and sustainability experience.
This role is for someone with previous construction related experience who enjoys working onsite and managing day to day environmental impacts as well as bigger picture sustainability issues such as carbon reduction.
What you'll be doing- Compiling environmental plans, method statements and risk assessments as part of the pre construction project phase.
- Providing advice to construction teams regarding pollution prevention and environmental best practice - developing management plans, delivering training, site inspections or chairing meetings.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and the Environmental Statement commitments during all construction activities by way of regular site inspections.
- Maintaining a site waste management plan and collating the waste records for all waste movement offsite including those from subcontractors.
- Maintaining and collating sustainability records such as waste, carbon and material sourcing records including those from subcontractors.
- Undertaking and advising on noise and vibration monitoring.
- Undertaking and advising on water quality monitoring and sampling.
- Regular liaison with key environmental stakeholders including SEPA, Nature Scot and Local Authorities.
- Reporting on and developing initiatives to improve environmental performance onsite.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental commitments within the contract and/or planning documents.
- Identifying more sustainable solutions for the project and wider industry, including working on new sustainability innovation projects.
- Leading teams of experts such as ecologists, archaeologists and designers to determine key control measures/targets/processes for the project.
- Advising project teams on start-up documentation and licensing requirements for new projects.
- Working with and reporting to customers and other key stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Managing a team of ES advisors, potentially expanding out to managing a team of Environmental Managers and advisors in the North East of Scotland.
- The successful candidate must have a full clean driving licence and be happy to travel to a variety of locations with occasional stays away from home.
- Understanding of current environmental legislation and best practice relating to construction projects - including waste management, pollution prevention and material sourcing.
- Familiarity with routine environmental inspections and reporting for construction projects.
- Experience with Waste Duty of Care requirements and documents.
- Ability to assist in problem solving for environmental and sustainability challenges and providing opportunities for environmental innovation.
- Team management and management of environmental specialists.
