Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Overview
Hydrologist - Senior/Principal (WINEP and Water Resources) – WSP, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
What you’ll do- Lead and contribute to high-profile Water Industry Natural Environment Programme (WINEP) and Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK.
- Demonstrate a track record of contributing to the hydrological and water management elements of WINEP investigations and WRMP inputs in recent AMP cycles.
- Develop rainfall–runoff models and apply calibration techniques.
- Apply wider hydrology approaches required for water resources applications in England and Wales.
- Have familiarity with demand management and water resources modelling approaches.
- Understand and apply the latest UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines and WINEP guidance (e.g., Preventing Deterioration and Environmental Destination).
- Assess climate change resilience and ensure deliverables meet quality standards for clients and regulators.
- Possess programming experience (e.g., Python and/or R) or an interest in developing these skills.
- Write high-quality, concise reports and communicate effectively with the client and regulator stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with other sectors and disciplines to deliver hydrological components of diverse projects.
- A water-focused MSc (e.g., hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management) and a BSc in a related subject (e.g., physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering).
- You will have gained, or be working towards, chartership with a relevant professional body.
