Lead Utilities Surveyor / Utilities Survey Manager
We are seeking two Assistant Utilities Surveyors to support the Power T&D team on the Lower Thames Crossing one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for developing surveyors to gain hands‑on experience on a major project, working alongside senior colleagues and developing technical skills in utilities surveying.
What you’ll be doing- Assist in carrying out utilities surveys (buried and overhead) to support Power T&D works along the Lower Thames Crossing route.
- Support the Lead Utilities Surveyor in planning, setting up and executing survey tasks to PAS 128 standards.
- Operate survey equipment such as GNSS, total stations, EML and GPR under supervision.
- Help with collection, validation, and collation of asset data for CAD/GIS deliverables.
- Maintain accurate survey records, logs and as‑built information.
- Assist with liaison to third‑party stakeholders and statutory undertakers to verify asset information.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.
- Take part in training and development activities to progress towards senior survey roles.
- Some experience or exposure to utilities, land, or engineering surveying (can include placement / internship).
- Understanding of PAS 128 utilities survey standards and HSG
47 (or willingness to learn). - Basic knowledge of survey equipment (total stations, GNSS, EML, GPR).
- Competency in CAD (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) or GIS packages to process survey data.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong health and safety awareness.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Formal qualification (or working towards) in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related discipline.
- CSCS card and relevant safety tickets.
- Experience on large infrastructure or power T&D projects
