Salary$70,239.26 – $ (2026 salary scales)
Your Main Daily ActivitiesAdditional to general responsibilities as a Telecommunications Engineer, this role focuses on Telephony. Below are the key functions:
- For telephone projects on sites and central offices:
- Conduct studies, preliminary designs, and full projects; respond to client needs for engineering and design of telecom infrastructure.
- Design and engineer; supervise execution; ensure quality and approval; manage and accept technical changes during fabrication and installation.
- Produce associated engineering documentation such as plans, technical quotes, and equipment lists.
- Integrate company orientations, practices, and objectives for appropriate design and engineering solutions.
- Engineer following project delivery strategies; recommend professional services with the project team.
- Participate in the standardization of new equipment.
- Develop and maintain evolving standards, methods, and practices for design and engineering, in accordance with Hydro‑Québec’s directions, and enforce their application.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field; member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) as an engineer or engineering candidate (CPI).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in telephone IP networks and/or traditional networks on Cisco and Nortel/Avaya telecom equipment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in design expertise, especially for IP and/or traditional telephone networks.
- Good knowledge of telecommunications cabling standards and codes related to telephone.
- Demonstrated ability to write structured reports and recommendations.
- Certifications from Cisco and/or Avaya are an asset.

- French language knowledge appropriate to the role.
- Functional knowledge of English, spoken and written, for occasional communications with suppliers or partners outside Quebec who speak a language other than French.

- Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
- May be required to travel frequently within Quebec by various means of transport, including air and land.
