Position Overview:

Under the general direction of the Enterprise Projects Environmental Lead, assist in the development and implementation of all phases of the dispatchable capacity and other enterprise‑level projects including assessment, engagement, compliance and monitoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of solutions to issues and challenges that are impacting maintaining critical path on Enterprise Project deliverables.
  • Develops process improvement initiatives to streamline processes related to execution of Enterprise projects.
  • Liaises and collaborates with managers, section heads and supervisors across departments to achieve project objectives on schedule and budget.
  • Develop knowledge and expertise in enterprise project infrastructure construction and operation.
  • Monitor and track project changes and communicate key information to relevant dept staff.
  • Contribute to authoring and review of environmental assessments, environmental protection plans, monitoring reports and communication engagement materials at high degree of accuracy for a variety of audiences.
  • Provide environmental/regulatory guidance and advice associated with facility construction.
  • Participate in multi‑discipline teams; this will include Manitoba Hydro staff and/or consultants.
  • Recommend changes to environmental management practices that add value to Manitoba Hydro, reduce risk to the corporation and to the environment, and ensure compliance with appropriate standard(s).
  • Liaise on behalf of Manitoba Hydro with external parties including landowners, Indigenous communities, rural municipalities, and other stakeholders.
  • May lead inter‑departmental project teams in the preparation of project planning documents.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a four‑year degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university with five years of directly related experience;
  • OR
  • Completion of a diploma in related discipline from a recognized college or university with seven years of directly related experience.
  • Diverse experience with planning and performing environmental assessments, engagement activities, compliance and monitoring activities on major projects.
  • Technical knowledge of natural gas infrastructure is an asset.
  • Ability to interpret and explain regulatory requirements and mitigation measures.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions as part of a project team working with budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative including exercising judgment in problem solving and decision making.
  • Ability to work with consultants and specialists in field investigations and technical report preparation.
  • Proven organizational and leadership abilities, including leading, directing, and motivating personnel. Experience in building trust and influencing change.
  • Amenable to work assignments requiring absences from home base for varying lengths of time up to 10 days.
  • Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513.
  • Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually.
