About The Role
The P&C Interface Designer will work with the project team, designers and engineers through the detail design phase to deliver the safe and suitable scope of works in line with the project objectives. Produce drawing output for both initial and detail design phases and support the design of substation works including single line diagrams, key line diagrams, general arrangements, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams and interface wiring diagrams with cable connections.
Whatyou'll be doing
- Produce and modify drawings based upon the design requirements on PT&D projects.
- Ensure the timely and quality delivery of drawings to a high quality standard which are compliant with the required Client and national technical standards (BS/Eurocodes/ENA).
- Assess and identify design and temporary works requirements on each project.
- Drive a Safety by Design approach at all times.
- Take personal responsibility and accountability for actions, constantly striving to improve and exceed expectations ensuring safety and quality are never compromised.
- Ensure that procedures and manuals provided for compliance with the appropriate Quality Assurance are applied.
- Work with multiple clients to produce drawings to their specific standards.
- Actively develop working methods to improve the quality of the output.
- Liaise as necessary with the engineer to determine the most suitable and practical interpretation of design.
- Strong understanding of AutoCAD software.
- Experience of the design of substation electrical protection systems.
- Familiarity with protection system components & substation auxiliary system components (LVAC, batteries etc).
- Experience working on SSE or NG contracts with an in depth knowledge of their technical requirements with regards to panel and interface design.
- IT Literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel).
- Must be capable of working to strict deadlines and be highly organised.
- Attention to detail and an awareness of the quality standards required.
- ECITB SAFE Passport – Beneficial.
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or higher – Beneficial.
