Job DescriptionDue to significant growth across our Transmission and Distribution business, Wood is seeking an established Senior Quantity Surveyor to support our growing workload within the Commercial area of our business. This hybrid role offers flexibility in working between home, site and our Glasgow office. The successful candidate will provide commercial support for financial and contractual matters throughout the management of client projects, including post‑award contract administration, cost analysis, cash‑flow forecasting, subcontracting strategy development and project reporting.
A strong commercial judgement, flexibility and the ability to collaborate via MS Teams and travel to sites across Scotland are key.

- Post‑award contract administration, ensuring payment applications and invoices are prepared on time and accurately, capturing full contract entitlement and change in variations or amendments.
- Timely provision of commercial/contract deliverables such as bonds, PCGs, evidence of insurance and reporting.
- Development, implementation and maintenance of project commercial plans, including subcontracting strategy and profit improvement plans.
- Regular cost analysis to maximize recoverable costs, minimize disallowable costs, identify cost‑saving areas and ensure adequate accruals and provisions.
- Ensure all commercial‑related DOA matters are correctly approved and documented.
- Preparation of project cash‑flow forecasts, expenditure, invoice preparation and expediting of payments in line with client contract requirements.
- Developing subcontracting commercial strategy in conjunction with project management, supply chain and other functions as required.
- Preparation and analysis of inputs to key contract and internal project reporting, and participation in internal project reviews.
- Developing robust project forecasts in conjunction with the project team.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law or Business Studies and an appropriate professional qualification (preferred).
- Substantial demonstrated experience within a QS or Senior QS role, preferably from a transmission and distribution overhead lines background.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures.
- Proven experience in contract administration and change management.
