  • Support the Project Team with technical guidance, leadership, and site safety.
  • Monitor the project's performance to maximise efficiency and project delivery.
  • Coordinate with all parties involved in the design and construction of temporary works to deliver safe technical solutions.
  • Liaise with clients to determine if schemes may affect the public and to ascertain the approval process and certification required.
  • Prepare and review the design brief for adequacy and completeness before issue to Temporary Works Design, ensuring compliance with the design brief and adequate risk description.
  • Ensure that an adequate Temporary Works Design is carried out, manage design progress, and act as a key interface with the Construction Team to understand requirements and timescales.
  • Ensure realistic timing for temporary works designs, checking, and construction within the construction programme.
  • Discuss any changes to the design with the TWD and manage the design change process.
  • Issue Temporary Works Design Check Confirmation/Approval forms (ENG‑SF‑4004).
  • Ensure compliance with the risk assessment and mitigation plan, managing technical risks during pre‑construction and delivery phases.
  • Support the delivery of Permanent & Temporary Works design requirements, construction activities, risk and mitigation plans, method statements, and work package plans.
  • Carry out technical, quality, and compliance audit inspections of Temporary Works before loading and unloading, ensuring competent personnel perform on‑site duties and adherence to applicable standards.
  • Draw up and agree with the site team a list of ‘hold points’ for certain operations that require inspection before work proceeds.
  • Inspect temporary works installations to ensure they match designs and monitor any on‑site changes, submitting significant revisions for redesign by the designer.
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND Civil Engineering (preferred but not essential).
  • Charted Engineer – CEng (preferred) or IEng.
  • Relevant experience in a Temporary Works Coordinator role, preferably on railway infrastructure projects, or similar type and complexity.

  • Self‑motivated and driven, able to multi‑task, prioritise and remain calm under pressure.
  • Conscientious, systematic and thorough, with a positive attitude towards rules, process and procedures.
  • Capable of making timely decisions and taking appropriate action, with willingness to face challenges, diagnose and solve problems, and take responsibility for outcomes.
Benefits
  • Smart working, flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, up to 40% remote working where roles allow.
  • 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata).
  • Family‑friendly policies: 28 weeks full‑pay maternity/adoption leave; four weeks full‑pay paternity/partner leave.
