The Role

As Senior Draftsperson this is a great opportunity to be involved with solving complex problems relating to technical drawings for weapon handling launch systems for UK submarines. Day-to-day you’ll be working within a supportive team environment where you will use your skills and enthusiasm to develop, integrate and test mission critical systems at the cutting edge of their domain. You will be deployed directly to the role and will use your on-the-job experiences and training to make a real difference for our customers.

This role is full time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home. However you may be eligible to work remotely if you are able to use CAD hardware  you may be required to work onsite as and when the project demands.

Responsibilities
  • Meet the needs of customers, actively seeking out new knowledge, tools and technologies to help take us forward into the future.
  • Check for most mechanical engineering deliverables i.e. technical documentation, 3D CAD, technical drawings, operating instructions.
  • Set out concepts including material selection and scoping calculations.
Essential Experience
  • Experience of origination and preferably checking most mechanical engineering deliverables i.e. technical documentation, 3D CAD and technical drawings, operating instructions.
  • Experience of concept setting out including material selection and scoping calculations.
  • Full lifecycle engineering experience/awareness and the capability to define test instructions.
  • Understanding of non-conformance and change request processes.
  • Competent to perform and report root cause analysis and fault finding, along with detailing and proving solutions.
  • Proficient with use of PLM and CAD packages (Team Center and NX experience would be advantageous).
Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability of working in a Senior role.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. The successful candidate will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
