Electrical Engineer - Substation Testing & Commissioning (T&C)
As an electrical engineer, you will be called upon to lead and/or actively participate in new substation or substation refurbishment projects. You will work on the engineering of high‑power switchgears, collaborating with CEPs, technicians, and drafters, and coordinating with other disciplines in our energy sector projects. You will also be part of a flexible hybrid work model, working from home and our Quebec office.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Design electrical power systems and their layouts for various substation projects.
- Participate in detailed engineering for the production of schematics, switch gear layout plans and earthing plans.
- Prepare project deliverables such as plan views, elevations, detail drawings, miscellaneous layouts, diagrams, specifications, and lists.
- Carry out or validate studies and calculations for sizing equipment, selecting gauges and laying power cables, auxiliary services, and lightning protection.
- Select equipment and quantify quantities.
- Co‑ordinate electrical equipment work with other engineering disciplines (structural, civil, control & protection, mechanical, building, and architectural).
- Co‑ordinate the project with the client(s).
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Member of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for registration.
- More than five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Hydro‑Québec or other public utility standards.
- Knowledge of substation switch gear engineering.
- Fluency in written and spoken French.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and design codes, including the Québec Electrical Code.
