About

The Role

Our client, an esteemed Oil and Gas Operator based in Aberdeen, is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their dynamic team on an initial 12‑month PAYE contract. This role offers a hybrid working model, combining both on‑site and remote work arrangements to promote flexibility and work‑life balance. The Senior Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operation of the asset.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of process engineering principles, UK COMAH legislation, and extensive experience working within midstream or downstream hydrocarbon processing facilities.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a degree in Process or Chemical Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer, demonstrating a high level of technical expertise and professional accreditation. Relevant certifications such as BOSIET, MIST, and Offshore Medical are essential, confirming the candidate’s readiness for offshore and onshore operations. Extensive experience supporting offshore production facilities, along with in‑depth knowledge of process safety, legislation, and engineering standards, is required.

The candidate should also demonstrate proficiency in HYSYS, SAP PM, Microsoft Office, and PI data historian tools.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day discipline engineering support to ensure operational excellence, including troubleshooting operational issues, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support asset modifications, process optimisation, and risk assessments, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards.
  • Define and execute process scopes during shutdowns, manage relationships with operational and maintenance teams, and coordinate with vendors for specialised engineering support.
  • Maintain as‑built process models and manage critical process documentation such as PFDs and P&IDs, ensuring integrity of safety barriers.
  • Actively participate in hazard and risk assessments like HAZOP, PHR, and LOPA, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of operational risks.
  • Lead investigations into production shortfalls and facilitate root cause analysis sessions.
  • Oversee the plant management of change (MoC) process, ensuring all modifications are properly documented, reviewed, and approved.
  • Analyse process data using PI historian tools, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Our client offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role provides an excellent opportunity for professional development within a leading organisation in the oil and gas sector.

Benefits include flexible hybrid working arrangements, comprehensive health and safety support, and access to ongoing training and development programmes. The company values work‑life balance and offers a supportive environment where employees can thrive and advance their careers.
