Electrical Engineer (remote from New Brunswick)
BPA is an engineering firm shaping buildings and infrastructure across Canada. This remote position requires regular travel to Halifax to collaborate with teams and clients on site.
The opportunityWe’re looking for an Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) to provide electrical engineering support on a wide range of projects—from modifications to existing facilities and conceptual design improvements to equipment replacements and new project implementations. Main Responsibilities- Execute electrical engineering activities within a multi‑discipline scope of work, including conceptual design development, detailed design, procurement support, construction support, and commissioning.
- Participate in multi‑discipline projects, develop deliverables from concept through calculations and detailed design, and produce final stamped issues.
- Perform detailed reviews of project electrical design specifications, drawings, and standard detail drawings; conduct load studies, lighting level calculations, cable sizing, and voltage drop analysis.
- Develop Engineering Work Packages, including single‑line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical layouts, control panel layouts, installation details, and written project phasing progression.
- Understand and complete work within established project budgets, ensuring compliance with contractual scope and execution strategy.
- Collaborate with internal and external senior engineers and designers on challenging tasks.
- Travel to the field for project scoping, verification, construction support, and client meetings as needed.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to more junior team members.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Member in good standing of the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB).
- 4–6 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with electrical codes (CSA, IEEE, API, ANSI, CEC).
- Proficiency in developing single‑line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical layouts, cable schedules, and key design documents.
- Ability to develop comprehensive engineering work packages, including construction scope, reports, design drawings, instrument datasheets, and deliverables.
- Experience with power and lighting system design software and reporting considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with REVIT & CAD software considered an asset.
- Experience with client management, including proposal development and engineering cost estimates considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills focused on client service.
- Analytical and creative problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Remote work capability from New Brunswick, with regular visits to the Halifax office.
