Description
At Burns & McDonnell, our Manufacturing team puts people first — our employee-owners and our clients. We value not only the technical expertise you bring, but also the leadership, perspective, and initiative that make you uniquely effective. Our vision is to be the most sought-after design-builder in the industry, delivering high-performing solutions that support the products you, your family, and your friends rely on every day.
Within the Manufacturing market, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with world‑class companies in a dynamic and continually expanding industry. From leading food and beverage producers to personal care and household goods manufacturers, our clients shape daily life — and your work directly influences how people around the world live and thrive. Our business lines span Food & Beverage, Consumer & Life Science, and Aerospace & Industrial, with this role focused primarily on the Food & Beverage sector.
As a Staff Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting and guiding the successful execution of complex Food & Beverage projects. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to project planning, design development, technical decision‑making, and coordination across engineering, procurement, and construction functions. Your work will help ensure projects meet client expectations, regulatory standards, and Burns & McDonnell’s commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.
The Staff Project Engineer will provide high‑level direction to all engineering design efforts for both Design‑only and Design‑Build/EPC projects. Design‑only work will support the full engineering scope required for traditional design‑bid‑build delivery, while Design‑Build/EPC projects will encompass integrated engineering, procurement, and construction management activities. In this role, you will help establish design criteria, coordinate technical disciplines, support scope development, and ensure engineering deliverables are produced accurately and efficiently.
You will also support project execution across the various manufacturing business lines while maintaining a primary focus on Food & Beverage facilities. Responsibilities include assisting with project schedules, budgets, risk assessments, technical reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination. You will contribute to problem‑solving during design and construction, maintain strong communication across teams and clients, and help drive successful outcomes on time and within budget.
This role offers the opportunity to build leadership skills, influence project direction, and grow into increasing responsibility within Burns & McDonnell’s integrated project delivery environment.
