Overview
You will join Atkins Realis as an Associate Principal Engineer within the Civil or Structural Engineering Department for the Middle East business based in Qatar to support the team on our growing portfolio of projects within the region. We're looking for individuals with an engineering background in either of the following: buildings, civil works, bridges, tunnels, utilities and infrastructure.
Your role- Take design lead on our growing portfolio of significant and complex projects, reviewing the quality and accuracy of own and others' work.
- Encourage the creation and development of innovative ideas with practical solutions, collaborating effectively with Atkins Realis employees, clients and partners, and demonstrating an inclusive One Company mindset.
- Ensure designs are multidisciplinary coordinated and meet client brief, local codes and authorities, and best engineering practice.
- Handle procurement, tendering, change management, contracts, variations, risk management, cost control and schedule baselines, ensuring profits exceed expected margins.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, improve technical excellence, H&S regulations, digital design delivery and promote this culture within the team and the wider community.
- Maintain high-quality standards and client satisfaction, increasing repeat business (business development) by ensuring reliability and trust.
- Contribute to an inclusive, motivated, engaging and thought-provoking environment committed to continuous improvement.
- Assist in maintaining accurate project records for monthly revenue recording, forward planning, orderbook and revenue/resource forecasting, and in commercial management of the team.
- Manage project delivery by collaborating with multidisciplinary design work to produce efficient, innovative and coordinated solutions according to the appropriate Quality Management procedures.
- Collaborate with representatives from other Atkins Realis units, external sub-consultants and third‑party design reviewers.
- Adapt to different cultures and work environments, manage pressure, and travel across the GCC and overseas when required.
- Masters or Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
- 12 years of experience.
- Professionally Chartered (or near Chartered) with an internationally recognised institution.
- UPDA Certificate Grade A with Ministry of Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning, Qatar.
- Professional consulting experience in challenging environments, focusing on solution design and project/tender management.
- Experience taking the lead on consulting projects and acting as an engineering/technical/functional resource.
- Strong consulting and engineering technical and functional acumen in relevant domains.
- Preparation of designs throughout all RIBA stages.
- Excellent English language skills (written and oral) with strong communication and negotiating skills.
