Field Service Engineer - Milan or Catania, Italy

Job Summary:

This is a home-based position that reports directly to the Director of Service Manager (DSM) for Europe/Israel and involves field service maintenance activities and installation support for Akrion Technologies' (a US-based company) product lines.

Perform intermediate/advanced level and preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoot technical/mechanical/flow/process/software problems with minimal assistance.
Perform customer site‑specific activities and utilize departmental procedures to assemble, test, and troubleshoot Akrion Technologies product lines as well as appropriate OEM subsystems during tool installation, warranty, contract support, and product enhancement installation support activities.
Assist senior FSE’s with site inspections.
Establish and maintain with the customer a high level of satisfaction with Akrion Technologies tools and support.
Attend all customer mandatory Environmental, Health, and Safety classes.
Participate in customer data collection regarding tool performance and attend customer meetings.
Provide customers with updated non‑confidential literature regarding equipment.
Must have a complete understanding of all Standard Operating Procedures and plan daily activities with minimal supervision.
Responsible for providing required documentation through all phases of tool/product enhancement installation and warranty and contract support FSRs to the appropriate parties.
Escalate system issues appropriately by utilizing the CSR system and submitting timesheets and expense reports to the area manager weekly.

Requirements

Associate degree in electronics or applicable education and/or a minimum of 5 years related industrial experience.
Preferred related work experience with a large amount of exposure to the Semiconductor Industry, Silicon Wafer Fabrication, Environmental, Health and Safety, Flow Controls, Pneumatics, Chemistry, and Computer Programming.
Applicable military or job experience can be considered if the experience is directly related to the tasks to be performed.
Must be able and willing to travel at least 75% of the time and for a duration of up to 3 weeks at a time.
Must be able to function under a considerable amount of stress.
Must be able to work effectively in a group or on an individual basis. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. QCER B2 is required (C level 1 or 2 will be considered a plus) to interact with peers, management, and customers.
Must show skills in utilizing basic electronic troubleshooting equipment.
Must show proficiency in basic computer skills, i.e., Excel, Word, DOS, Windows Operating System, and Internet e-mail.
Must feel confident and comfortable working around hazardous chemicals.
Ability to work within a confined space. Ability to lift heavy loads to 50 lbs.
Must be able to discern and appropriately handle confidential material and information.
Must be willing to travel or relocate depending on business needs.
