The role

You will own the technical side of the company's relationship with its customers: utilities and industrial users who rely on its protection and recording equipment. The ideal engineer has delivered top-quality technical service and problem solving to current and prospective customers, supported the sales team, and built expert-level knowledge of power system protection and automation, specifically relays and recorders.

Key responsibilities
  • Help customers apply the company's products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and phone support.
  • Meet customers to identify the feature sets products need to win in the market, and feed this to Marketing.
  • With the Technical Services group, resolve customer concerns through application notes, conference papers, answers to questions and online demonstrations.
  • Contribute customer service insight to Marketing plans and reviews: resolve problems, spot service trends and propose system improvements.
  • Help prepare and present winning proposals for products, services and systems.
  • Act as a secondary customer contact on technical matters.
  • Train customers and support installation, commissioning and operation, on site and remotely.
  • Take part in industry technical forums such as NASPI and IEEE PSRC.
  • Contribute to manuals, datasheets, ordering guides and other customer literature.
  • Support marketing, sales, application engineering and product development.
  • Keep your knowledge current through training, professional reading, networks and professional bodies, and maintain expert knowledge of the product range.
  • Deliver assigned work on schedule, within budget and to a high standard; take on project management and supervisory duties as assigned.
What you bring
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
  • 5 to 10 years working with protective relays and recorders.
  • Working knowledge of electric power systems, practices and philosophies, and of protective relay application at a utility or engineering firm.
  • Experience with EMTP, load flow and short circuit studies.
  • Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills, and strong computer and business software skills.
  • A passion for customer success, team spirit and exceptional organization and "get it done" skills.
  • The ability to manage time well across multiple demands, including when working remotely.
