Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer

Our client, a prominent multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is seeking a highly experienced and reputable Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join their growing team in Pretoria
. This senior role is crucial for leading the strategic development and delivery of major civil infrastructure projects, including roads, water reticulation, stormwater management, and site development. You will be instrumental in guiding project teams, fostering innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence are met. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in managing large-scale projects, a deep understanding of municipal infrastructure planning, and exceptional leadership qualities.

You will be a key figure in shaping sustainable and resilient urban environments, driving projects from conception through to completion with strategic insight and technical mastery.

• Lead the design and management of complex civil infrastructure projects, including road networks, bulk earthworks, water, and sanitation systems.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to a team of civil engineers, designers, and technicians.
• Develop comprehensive engineering designs, feasibility studies, and master plans for municipal and private sector clients.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant South African national, provincial, and municipal standards and regulations.
• Manage project execution, including scope, budget, schedule, and risk, from inception to closeout.
• Liaise effectively with clients, government authorities, stakeholders, and other consultants to achieve project objectives.
• Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of all civil engineering deliverables.
• Play a key role in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
• Oversee site supervision and construction support for infrastructure projects.
• Champion the adoption of sustainable design practices and innovative technologies in civil infrastructure development.

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Infrastructure or a related field.
• A minimum of 12 years of extensive experience in civil infrastructure engineering design and project management.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Proven experience in leading and delivering large-scale municipal infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in relevant design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software.
• In-depth knowledge of South African SANS codes, engineering standards, and municipal planning processes.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex project financials and timelines effectively.
• Experience with public-private partnerships (PPPs) and concession agreements is a plus.
• Residency or ability to commute to Pretoria for key meetings and site visits.
