Events Manager at EdTA
- Arts Nonprofit Career Growth
- Remote
This is a solid mid-level event management role at a nonprofit arts education organization. Here's what career-minded candidates should weigh carefully.
Compensation context: No salary is listed, which is a yellow flag. Nonprofit event managers in the U.S. with 5+ years of experience typically earn $50,000-$70,000 annually. EdTA is a niche organization, and nonprofit salaries often trail for-profit counterparts by 10-20%. Research carefully before accepting an offer.
Skills developed: This role offers meaningful breadth - theatrical production coordination, large-scale festival logistics, safety management, and hospitality operations. These are transferable to corporate events, conference management, festival production, and arts administration. Microsoft Office and event management software proficiency are table stakes for the industry.
Green flags:
- Clear scope and defined responsibilities signal an organized team structure.
- Exposure to a nationally recognized event (ITF) adds prestige to your resume.
- Nonprofit culture often yields mission-driven colleagues and meaningful work.
- Full benefits package including 401(k), health, disability, and parental leave is strong for a nonprofit.
Yellow/red flags:
- No salary listed despite a detailed job post is unusual - negotiate carefully.
- Weekend work and extended hours during events are explicitly expected - work-life balance will be uneven seasonally.
- The CPR requirement and safety coordination duties add responsibility not always compensated proportionally in nonprofits.
Best suited for someone passionate about arts education who wants to deepen event production expertise in a mission-aligned environment.
