About the role:

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting. This role is central to our monthly close process and works closely with operational stakeholders to ensure financial results reflect real business activity.

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you will support the development of a team of Assistant Management Accountants and contribute to the production of monthly management accounts. You will be involved in everything from journal posting and reconciliations to variance analysis and reporting, helping to drive consistency and clarity across our financial processes.

This role is based in our Northampton office with hybrid working arrangements of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home, if required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Group Finance Manager in leading and developing a team of three part‑qualified Assistant Management Accountants
  • Assist in coordinating the month‑end close process and presenting draft results to senior finance leaders
  • Process monthly accruals and prepayments across various cost areas
  • Post and review general ledger journals, including prepayments and accruals
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
  • Help manage the month‑end timetable and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Conduct analytical reviews of monthly results and provide variance commentary
  • Collaborate with FP&A to resolve queries and produce the management accounts pack
  • Support the year‑end statutory accounts and audit process
  • Guide the team in completing tasks such as cashbook reconciliations, staff expenses, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and format ad‑hoc reports and analysis as needed
  • Contribute to other finance‑related projects and initiatives

About you

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA preferred), or qualified by relevant experience
  • Experienced in month‑end close processes and preparation of accruals/prepayments
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interpret and present financial data clearly
  • Experience in the property sector and/or PE‑backed businesses is an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Aareon QL is beneficial
