This new role has been created as a fixed term post to provide additional capacity to the Head of Finance at Quartet, who is returning to work after a period of absence. You will join a small, experienced and supportive team who run Quartet’s financial systems which include our investments and grants payments. The Head of Finance manages the Senior Finance Officer and the Finance Officer who are 1.4 FTE and long serving staff members, who know the systems of Quartet well.
We need an experienced and self-starting finance professional to join our team, learn our systems, work alongside the Head of Finance and with the CEO, to ensure the board and Leadership Team have up to date financial information from our investors and through our management accounts. We also want to bring about efficiencies in our systems which are long established but not recently updated and take a fresh look at ways to make some of our information more digestible to non-finance professionals.
As well as understanding charitable reporting requirements and processes, you will need to understand and include our investment income which is vital to our grant giving processes. We have three main investors and hold over 300 funds.
The work will include producing monthly management accounts, ensuring investment income is included in our financial updates, regular report and Management Information to our quarterly board meetings. Quartet has a supportive staff team of 23 full and part time staff. We also have a skilled board with two former accountants who provide regular support to the team. You will be included in training and development opportunities and given a clear induction and ongoing support to fulfil your duties.

and opportunity for some home working.

Person Specification: Essential criteria for this role includes a professional accounting qualification, strong knowledge of charity accounting, proven experience in financial management in the not-for-profit sector, experience with fund accounting and managing restricted/unrestricted funds, strong financial systems and Excel skills, ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders, and the ability to present accurate work to given timescales.
