About the Company
We are a growing construction company delivering both residential and commercial projects. We are seeking a hands-on Management Accountant to take ownership of the finance function.
The Role
This is a broad, end-to-end position suited to a practical, detail-oriented Management Accountant who is comfortable operating independently. You will be responsible for both day-to-day transactional accounting and management reporting, supporting the business with accurate financial information and strong financial control.
Key Responsibilities
* Processing day-to-day financial transactions, including purchase invoices, sales invoices, and journals
* Managing supplier payments, subcontractor payments, and payment runs
* Bank reconciliations and cash flow management
* Preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
* Job costing, cost tracking, and margin analysis for construction projects
* Monitoring budgets and forecasts, highlighting variances and risks
* Managing payroll inputs and liaising with external payroll
* VAT/CIS returns and compliance with relevant financial regulations
* Liaising with external accountants and tax advisors
* Supporting directors with ad-hoc financial analysis
* Improving financial processes and systems as the business grows
About You
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience
* Proven experience in a management accounting role, ideally within construction or a project-based environment
* Comfortable handling transaction processing as well as management reporting
* Strong understanding of job costing and project financials
* Able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
* High attention to detail with a practical, hands-on approach
* Confident communicator, able to work closely with non-finance stakeholders
* Experience with Xero and Excel
