The Role
I am recruiting a Financial Planning Assistant for Paradigm Norton’s Bristol office to support the provision of financial planning and portfolio management services to high‑net‑worth clients. The successful candidate will have experience working in the financial services sector in a highly involved and responsible support capacity, but they will not need to know the intricacies of financial planning as training and support will be provided.
They will need exceptional organisational, communication and administrative skills to deliver all aspects of financial planning efficiently. The role offers the opportunity, if desired, to study for professional exams and progress a career in financial planning.
Salary up to £35,000 (dependent on experience) plus an exceptional benefits package including 23 days’ holiday, 12 wellbeing days, bank holidays, hybrid working, support with professional training, 10% employer pension contribution, profit share, income protection scheme, private medical insurance, life assurance, healthcare cash plan and cycle‑to‑work scheme.
Home Working and FlexibilityParadigm Norton values work/life balance. The role is based in the Bristol head office (Ham Green, BS20) with easy access to M4/M5, but the hybrid working model allows up to 50% home working once established. Part‑time arrangements (shorter days, 4‑day week, etc.) are also considered.

Paradigm Norton delivers comprehensive, bespoke financial planning, investment and portfolio management, tax and estate planning, and philanthropy advice, translating complex financial issues into workable solutions for high‑net‑worth clients.
- Provide the administrative assistance involved in delivering financial planning and portfolio management services to high‑net‑worth clients.
- Assist Client Managers with collating data and preparing for annual reviews.
- Produce relevant paperwork such as valuations, reports, illustrations, client letters, application forms, spreadsheets and presentations.
- Ensure the client database is up‑to‑date, check valuations, obtain accurate policy information, and update the back‑office system accordingly.
- Process new business applications and deal with related tasks as required.
- Develop relationships with clients, communicate by letter, email and phone, arrange meetings and collate supporting documents.
- Coordinate Client Managers’ activities, correspondence and communication, organise and prioritise accordingly, and follow up on action points.
- Manage incoming post and tasks, taking ownership where possible, keeping clients and Managers updated, following up on outstanding actions and monitoring through to conclusion.
- General administration – filing and scanning documents, updating spreadsheets, typing, actioning post and answering the telephone as required.
- Previous experience in a highly involved support role within a financial services organisation. Understanding of financial planning is not essential, but a keen interest and willingness to learn is required.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, commercially astute, with a proven record of taking responsibility and self‑motivation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical, administrative and organisational skills, and a fanatical attention to detail.
- High levels of numeracy and IT literacy, especially with Word, Excel and Outlook, and adaptability to change.
- A strong relationship builder and excellent team player, with a caring and considerate approach.
- An affinity with the company values of "people matter" and "setting the bar high".
