Job Description & How to Apply Below
United Kingdom
We’re looking for a Senior Manager to join Financial Crime Operations, leading a specialist area at the heart of how we manage complex financial crime risk and controls, authorise customer risk classifications and respond when cases require heightened expertise, judgement or escalation.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you’ll lead three specialist capabilities covering Financial Crime Authorisations, Technical Expertise and Specialist Investigations. Together, these teams provide the expertise, judgement and challenge required to support effective risk management across our Financial Crime operation across Virgin Money and Nationwide.
A critical part of the role will be accountability for our localised Case Clinic and owning the Customer Forum, ensuring complex and material customer risk is subject to effective decision-making, challenge and governance. This will include presenting high-risk customer cases and recommendations to Accountable Executives, clearly articulating risk, evidence and recommended outcomes.
You’ll work closely with Senior Manager peers across Financial Crime Operations, providing specialist capability to help them manage complex case-level risk and control challenges within their areas. Equally, you’ll face out across the wider Economic Crime function, building strong collaborative relationships with Economic Crime Oversight, Advice and the Nominated Officer Function to ensure operational insight, technical expertise and appropriate challenge come together to manage risk effectively.
This role will also play an important part in the continued integration of Nationwide and Virgin Money, aligning frameworks and capabilities to develop a Group-level function able to support both brands through integration and beyond.
Ultimately, this isn’t just about resolving individual cases. You’ll ensure what we learn from complex decisions, investigations, intelligence and operational exceptions is used to identify emerging threats, strengthen our control environment and continually improve how we manage financial crime risk.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
