Position: Social Worker | Full time | Permanent | Short Term Support Services | East

Social Worker – Full time, Permanent – Short Term Support Services – East Lancashire

The Lancashire County Council is seeking a compassionate Social Worker to work within the Urgent Care and Short Term Support services. This 37‑hour per week, full‑time role offers an opportunity to support vulnerable individuals, promote independence, and help them regain normal, healthy lives.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and support across multiple locations in the East Lancashire area.
  • Work within a 7‑day service, including bank holidays, and be available for up to one weekend in four. Weekend working is remunerated with pay enhancements.
  • Use own vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s licence to travel for assessments.
  • Collaborate with NHS colleagues and other agencies to manage bed‑based requests and other urgent care needs.
  • Maintain thorough records, report to supervising staff, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.

Key qualifications and attributes

  • Registered Social Worker (SWE) or a qualified application for registration with the Social Care Council.
  • Experience working in intermediate care settings or hospitals, dealing with crisis or acute community cases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a passion for supporting service users.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and resilient, able to handle fluctuating demand and changing priorities.
  • Values that align with caring for all individuals with respect and compassion.
