Who you are…

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A qualification in Physical Activity, Exercise Instruction, Health, Early Years, Youth Work, Education, or Social Care to a minimum Level 3, or equivalent proven work experience
  • Experience of working in community development, public health, or related fields
  • Experience in design, delivery and implementation of physical health activity and health improvement programmes
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to both collaborate and work independently
  • Experience in leading or supporting projects in partnership with local organisations or community groups
  • A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and positive behavioral change

A Level 3/4 qualification in exercise or physical activity is desirable due to the practical delivery and oversight of our current community activity programmes.

About the role…

As a Community & Wellbeing Worker you will play a key role in delivering Rutland’s physical health and wellbeing offer.

Duties include:

  • Working closely with partners to reduce health inequalities, increase physical activity, and improve access to services across all communities.
  • Developing and delivering evidence-based physical activity and wellbeing programmes for children, young people, adults, and families—supporting both prevention and early intervention.
  • Coordinating and delivering a range of early and focused support through groupwork and 1:1 interventions, including physical activity-based sessions.
  • Supporting and promoting the physical health, mental health, and wellbeing offer available across Rutland.
  • Collaborating with volunteers, community groups and multi-agency partners to deliver impactful, innovative solutions focused on active lifestyles and improved wellbeing.

As a Community and Wellbeing Worker, you will be required to work flexibly, when the community needs support. A full UK driving license is required to enable the post holder to travel around the county. Evening and weekend work may also be required.

The successful applicant for the Community and Wellbeing Worker post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS are paid by us.

The Community and Wellbeing Worker interviews will be held on 28 January 2026. Please be advised this could be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.
