The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust wishes to appoint a highly motivated Band 7 Clinical Scientist within the Department of Nuclear Medicine.

This role will be based at Northampton General Hospital in the provision of a Nuclear Medicine scientist service for University Hospitals Northamptonshire (UHN).

The successful applicant is expected to be a registered Clinical Scientist, ideally with some experience across all areas of Nuclear Medicine.

The UHN Nuclear Medicine service is provided over two sites, Northampton General Hospital (NGH) and Kettering General Hospital (KGH). It covers a wide range of diagnostic tests and therapeutic studies.

There are four gamma cameras across the two sites; one dedicated cardiac, one standard gamma camera and two others with CT capability. There is an onsite Radiopharmacy  molecular radiotherapy service includes iodine ablation therapy, thyrotoxicosis therapy and Xofigo.

The department participates in clinical research trials. PET‑CT is provided at NGH by Alliance Medical Ltd for which UHL currently provide RPA, RWA and MPE services.

There will be full support from and access to the Nuclear Medicine team at UHL, including the Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics, Specialist Clinical Scientists and Clinical Scientists. Flexibility is available for time to spend in Nuclear Medicine at UHL for expansion of knowledge and management support, including meetings and CPD. This may involve onsite visits to UHL and remote working.

The post holder will prioritise and manage their own work to provide scientific support to the service. They will apply a broad range of scientific skills, knowledge and experience in Nuclear Medicine and will liaise closely with the scientific, medical, technical, nursing and other staff to deliver an effective diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine service.
