Join the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as an Audio Typist. We are recruiting full‑time and part‑time staff to provide accurate and professional audio‑typing services to clinical staff across the Trust.
Job SummaryAudio Typists will type clinic letters, operation notes, pre‑operative notes, ward notes, specialist reports, discharge summaries, conference notes and correspondence of varied medical terminology. The role involves using word processing, digital dictation systems, the Trust’s computer systems (SF4, PAS, EPR and Microsoft Office) and scanning into the patient EPR record. You will also process incoming mail, distribute as necessary, and liaise with the Medical Secretary and other secretaries within the Team.
MainDuties
- Accurately type clinic notes, operation notes, pre‑operative notes and other documents through audio‑typing.
- Scan documents into the correct part of the patient EPR record and perform a quality assurance check.
- Process incoming mail and distribute on a daily basis.
- Ensure all clinical letters are completed and dispatched within the 10‑day standard and liaise with medical staff to encourage timely dictation and signing.
- Check urgent dictation on Big Hand, identify missing dictations and alert the Medical Secretary.
- Complete Inter‑Provider Transfer forms accurately to coordinate patient pathways with other hospitals.
- Request external case notes and X‑rays via IEP.
- Maintain accurate and complete entries in hospital computer systems such as PAS and EPR.
- Liaise with the Medical Secretary and answer incoming telephone calls as directed.
- RSA Level 2 Typewriting and audio‑typing (or equivalent).
- English GCSE Grade C – or equivalent.
- Experience producing high volumes of typing to a high standard.
- Ability to work with a range of computer systems for transcription and administration.
- Demonstrates clear communication skills and a professional manner.
- Able to manage own workload unsupervised.
- Able to pay attention to detail and follow actions through to completion.
- Demonstrates commitment to the Trust’s published values.
Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and is not eligible for skilled worker sponsorship. Applicants requiring sponsorship will not be shortlisted.
Applicants must have current UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Salary & ContractBand 2 – £24,465 per year (pro‑rata) – Permanent contract. Full‑time (18.75‑37.5 hours per week) and part‑time roles available. Monday to Friday working days only.
