Swansea Hours: 37 hours (Mon-Fri)Permanent Salary: £24,242.40 A leading mental health and housing support organisation is seeking a committed and compassionate Permanent Floating Support Worker to join their community-based support team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about person-centred work, prevention, and empowering individuals to build safe, sustainable, and fulfilling lives. About the RoleAs a Floating Support Worker, you will provide flexible, outreach-based support to individuals who are experiencing challenges related to mental health, housing insecurity, tenancy management, or social isolation.
You will work with a diverse caseload across the community, delivering tailored support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and long-term stability.
Your role will involve visiting clients in their homes, meeting them in the community, or supporting them during key transitions in their lives. You will play a vital part in helping people maintain their accommodation, access the right services, and build the confidence and skills needed to thrive. Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, person-centred support, helping individuals to improve their mental health, emotional wellbeing, and confidence.
- Support clients to secure, manage, and sustain their tenancies, including budgeting, understanding tenancy agreements, and working to prevent eviction.
- Carry out comprehensive needs and risk assessments, regularly reviewing and updating support plans to reflect clients' goals.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they can access the right services, such as housing, benefits, healthcare, substance use support, and community resources.
- Work proactively with partner agencies, including local authorities, health services, landlords, and community organisations.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clients at all times.
- Work flexibly across the community, managing your own diary and ensuring clients receive timely and responsive support.
- Contribute to a positive team culture, sharing best practice and supporting colleagues as needed.
- Two years' experience in a support role - mental health, homelessness, housing, advocacy.
- Ability to build empowering and trusting relationships with individuals who may be vulnerable or facing complex challenges.
- Strong organisational skills and confidence in managing a varied caseload independently.
- Knowledge of housing-related support, mental health needs, trauma-informed practice, or community services.
- A compassionate, proactive approach and a commitment to promoting independence and dignity.
- A driving licence and access to a car is essential.
