Working hours:

40 hours per week with participation in on‑call duties, including evenings and weekend work.

We are looking for a flexible and highly motivated person with exceptional people skills who relishes the opportunity to empower vulnerable individuals to regain control of their lives.

Key Responsibilities

The role of Specialist Support Worker is fundamental to the Salvation Army's desire to help vulnerable clients achieve positive outcomes. As a Specialist Support Worker, you will provide a high‑quality frontline service to victims of human trafficking, including sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, forced labour and other forms of exploitation. You will deliver a service to those at highest risk as well as work within a multi‑agency framework including the Home Office, police, medical practitioners, local authorities, housing providers, legal representatives, etc.

Requirements
  • Extensive experience working within a supported accommodation environment
  • Level 3 NVQ qualification or equivalent in a related field, or willingness to work towards it
  • Understanding of legislation relating to Health and Safety and safeguarding of clients and staff
  • Ability to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army
  • Experience of working with vulnerable clients in programme areas associated with the specialism
  • Conduct risk assessments, devise Person‑Centred Support Plans and facilitate methods to promote client engagement and successful outcomes
  • Deliver a client‑focussed service which undertakes holistic support needs, risk assessments and identifies appropriate support
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully work independently and within a team
