SEN Caseworker
We are seeking an experienced SEN Caseworker to join its SEND Service, supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities from birth to 25.
This is a hybrid role, with 2 days per week required in the office. Remote working may be considered for candidates with extensive relevant experience. Tribunal experience is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate statutory assessment processes for children and young people with SEND in line with legislation and local authority procedures
Manage and complete statutory assessments, including the production of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Work closely with children, young people, parents and carers to provide high-quality professional advice and support
Liaise effectively with education, health and social care professionals to coordinate multi-agency assessments
Review and monitor outcomes to ensure provision meets identified needs
Provide advice and guidance on applying a graduated approach across a range of educational settings
Ensure statutory timescales, performance targets and quality standards are met
Purpose of the Role
As a SEND Caseworker, you will support effective service delivery in line with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice guidance. You will contribute to ensuring Knowsley meets its statutory duties under the Education Act 2002 and Children and Families Act 2014, helping children and young people with SEND achieve positive outcomes and make good progress.
Additional Responsibilities
Support the SEND Team Manager and Education and Inclusion senior management team in delivering and monitoring statutory SEND services
Ensure resources are used effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND
Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvement and performance monitoring
Essential Requirements
Proven experience as an SEN Caseworker within a local authority
Tribunal experience (essential)
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory processes
Experience coordinating EHCP assessments and reviews
Ability to work collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working model
2 days per week office-based
Remote working considered for highly experienced candidates
