Amentum is currently seeking a Dev Ops/Application Engineer as part of a team that delivers the infrastructure for critical applications and development tools running within a secure environment. We are looking for platform engineers to work with the support teams and developers to support our customer. The Apps Support/Dev Ops Platform Engineer will focus on administrating, maintaining the infrastructure that is used to deliver the services.
Due to the classification of this system, there is no opportunity for remote working and the support team works flexibly to maintain a constant presence during working hours. There are no out‑of‑hours SLA’s associated with this system.
- Management of the Azure Dev Ops infrastructure
- Plan, coordinate and execute changes and upgrades within the Dev Ops environment
- Implement automation and optimisation strategies to enhance platform performance
- Create and maintain documentation of the Dev Ops environment
- Provide first and second‑line support for the Dev Ops platform
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application & performance issues
- Escalate complex issues to third‑line support or development teams
- Work closely with other departments and users to resolve complex technical issues
- Continual service improvement to Dev Ops performance and operational efficiency
Management
- Azure Dev Ops environment and infrastructure
- Virtual and physical servers (Windows and Linux) and administration of VMware vSphere environment
Knowledge
- Dev Ops concepts and best practice
- Familiar with Active Directory
- Exposure to Windows and Linux monitoring tools
- Virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper‑V, Docker/Podman)
Experience
- Creation and/or administration of Dev Ops infrastructure
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills; ability to collaborate effectively across application, infrastructure, and networking teams; excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent)
Any offer of employment will be strictly subject to the relevant security requirements for the role being met. This means that you will need to have, or be able to obtain, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance and possibly Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. The security clearance process may require non‑British nationals or dual nationals to be subject to additional evaluation, depending on nationalities held and the nature of the work to be carried out.
