Senior Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer

Prometeia S.p.A., a leading provider of software solutions and consulting services for Risk Management, Financial Analysis, and Planning for financial institutions, is expanding its capabilities with an experienced data science team in Türkiye and is seeking a senior Data Science and ML Engineering candidate.
Candidate will be placed on the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) team, with an entrepreneurial spirit and a focus on not only financial institutions' digitalization processes but also cross-sectoral real‑world applications of AI. The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering and leadership skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Contribute to and lead the end‑to‑end design, development, and validation of Machine Learning (ML) solutions for financial and cross‑sector AI applications.
- Collaborate closely with local and international data scientists, domain experts, and business stakeholders to translate analytical insights into production‑ready solutions.
- Research, prototype, and implement state‑of‑the‑art ML/DL algorithms (including LLMs and generative AI) in real‑world data science problems.
- Lead the integration of resulting systems/software into existing production environments.
- Engage in applied research, co‑author technical papers, and represent Prometeia at data science conferences or academic collaborations.
- Demonstrate agility to multitask and adopt new technologies in a dynamic, research‑driven environment.
- 2‑3 years of academic and/or industry experience in Machine Learning.
- Having a BSc., MSc., or having/pursuing a PhD. degree in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or related fields of Computer Science and Data Science.
- Proficiency and hands‑on experience in Python programming.
- Experience in developing and maintaining MLOps pipelines.
- Practical experience with one or more of the following frameworks and libraries: pandas, scikit‑learn, matplotlib, PySpark, Tensor Flow.
- Experience in time‑series analysis and working with large‑scale or big data environments.
- Experience working with relational SQL databases.
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, runtime analysis, and object‑oriented design patterns.
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Experience with code versioning tools (Git).
- Ability to effectively communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with an emphasis on clear data visualization.
- Proven team leadership and mentoring abilities, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within multidisciplinary teams.
- High attention to detail, structured problem‑solving mindset, and accountability for project delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across stakeholders and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
