We build our data architecture in a robust operational environment with scale and efficiency. Data is meaningful in a functional, discoverable, and accessible format to power GIC’s innovative investment strategies.
Data ManagementYou will actively manage GIC’s data through technology‑enabled activities such as data sourcing, maintenance, and remediation. Our stewardship ensures data remains trustworthy, and of high quality.
Responsibilities- Conduct data research in alternative data to understand how various content drives impact investment themes in different markets. Derive insights and communicate the findings to key stakeholders.
- Support businesses request to source the best research data for their investment research requirements.
- Manage end to end data management operational activities of data products, including monitoring data delivery, resolving operational incidents and providing advisory to users.
- Proactively identify and recommend external research data that could support investment research requirements.
- Curate and bring in proprietary data content that can provide GIC the information edge.
- Set up, improve, and streamline data operations processes through analysing systems operations data (SLAs, customer satisfaction, delivery quality, team efficiency etc.) and incorporating best practices for continuous improvements and operational excellence.
- Partner business (Portfolio Managers, Research Analyst and Quantitative Analyst) to perform vendor content benchmarking, including suitability assessment, data testing and cost benefit optimisation.
- Coach and guide junior team members.
- Possess a degree from a recognised tertiary institution with at least five years of relevant experience in data management, finance or asset management industry, where at least three years are with hands‑on experience in data management or data analytics or business analysis.
- Experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle implementation methodology (SDLC) and/or agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience with data providers such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Markit and others would be preferred.
- Knowledge of using formulas/macros in Excel or coding in Python is advantageous.
- Possess good knowledge of financial instruments and markets.
- Detail oriented, with strong analytical skills and enjoy complex problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders to design and develop solutions.
- Self‑driven, pro‑active and a great sense of purpose to review existing data usage with a keen eye and implement innovative solutions for greater efficiency and quality of data processing.
