Computing Support Analyst

Salary:
Band C £30,895 per annum.
Hours:
Full‑time (flexible working arrangements may be discussed).
Contract:
Fixed‑term (1 year).
RAL Space is the UK’s national space laboratory, part of STFC. With 60 years of experience we support the full life cycle of space missions, from concept studies to data processing, working with UK and overseas agencies, universities and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities- Provide first‑line support to users in person, by phone and email, resolving everyday IT issues.
- Participate in new and ongoing IT projects.
- Use the ticketing system to investigate and troubleshoot software, hardware and networking problems.
- Install and upgrade PCs and laptops as part of hardware refresh activities.
- Onboard new staff, helping them set up equipment and software from day one.
- Offer general support across Windows, Mac, mobile devices and printers.
- Document fixes and procedures to improve team knowledge and consistency.
- Escalate complex issues to senior technicians or specialists when necessary.
- Work independently and collaboratively on site, ensuring efficient, secure and customer‑focused IT service delivery.
- 5 GCSE passes at Grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English and a STEM subject.
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrated in CV, cover letter and interview.
- Demonstrable knowledge of computing, including personal or academic projects involving IT or hardware.
- Knowledge of PC/Mac computer hardware.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Desktop products.
- Capability to provide support both in person and remotely.
